News & Updates

I hate to say it but this might be the last issue of the NeverLand News. At first what I thought would be a great idea for our community has turned into a big waste of my time. No one seems interested and I don't even think anyone reads these things. I hate to admit defeat though so I thought I would try this one last ditch effort before I scrap the idea. After each article there will be a link to a discussion topic on our message board, where hopefully we can discuss and or give our ideas on the topics. Worth a try, I hope.

Chat Room Advice
Chat rooms can be wonderful places where you can make new friends and maybe even find romance, but like with everything else there are two sides to every coin. They can also harbor stalkers, and other not-nice people.
To all of you who use the chat room here at NeverLand, and for all of you who are new to the wonderful world of cyber reality here are a few tips, tricks, and safety advice for socializing in the technology age.
Always use caution in giving our information about yourself. If you meet someone online and think things are going well and want to talk to each other on the phone here is a great suggestion, get their number and use a phone card to call them. That way if they turn out to be weird stalkers they won't know your phone number if they have caller id or try to do one of those call the last person who called you things.
Never give out your home address unless you are totally sure you know and trust someone. Even then, be careful!
If you do decide to meet someone in person who you met online, always bring someone with you, make sure that several people know where you will be and who you will be meeting. And always, always meet in a public place.
Remember that because chat rooms are anonymous that someone can tell you she's the queen of sheba and there is no way to know for sure if she is. Take everything with a grain of salt.
Get yourself a free e-mail address from one of the many companies out there that provide them (like yahoo). That way if you start talking to someone and want to continue in e-mail, your identity is still safe and if they start bugging you, you can just delete the account
