Homophobia

By Jennie Fitzpatrick

What's wrong with WHO I love?
Be it girl or boy
What does it really matter?
As long as WE enjoy.

How dare you criticize
what I feel?
Who the hell are you to size
the depths of what is real?

Deny what you feel
if you really can
Try and tell me what you really want
Is to be with a man

I have seen your eyes when we touch
I have felt your hands
You responded just a much
to my intimate plans

Make yourself unhappy
to please all the rest
But remember that I was there
to give you nothing but the best

If it wasn't meant to be
we wouldn't feel it now
If it was so bad
God would have erased it somehow

So, go back to your homophobic world
that you pulled me out of
And let me find someone
that God can be proud of.
