Time Once More By Zoe
White hot shards of broken glass, shred my tortured heart,
Anger fills my mouth with words of drunken rage,
My body stiffens as I watch the new woman in your life, flirt with someone else.
This person took you from my arms & tore you from my life.
Yet here she stands, her arms around anothers waist.
This nemesis of heartbreak, flaunting her disloyalty in my face,
Her smile so cruel as she watches my obvious pain.
How dare she tell you that she cares for you,
How could she go behind your back to steal yet another heart.
My only true love, you would be so hurt to witness what I see before me.
The mistake she has made will cost her dear, but now is not the time.
I call upon every ounce of restraint, as I finish my wine & head for the door.
The shrill sound of laughter hits me from behind,
....the anger burns deep into my soul.
Yet my anger turns to compassion when I think of the pain you will face,
I can only hope that it is me that you turn to should that time arrive.
Maybe I will only be the shortfall,
...but time once more with you will be mine....
