The End of Innocence

By Andrea

I strolled along strange pathways,
Whose unknown bends were full of promises.
Hoping for the rustling of some angel's wing,
I was waiting for a soft light to appear.

I got lost, as some deceptive glow,
A thoughtful firefly and a dreamy smile,
Led me onto a sinuous track
That introduced me to a tender pain.

In my soul is engraved a memory
Sentenced to silence for eternity
For the ones who must let these paths unexplored.

Trying to foresee a different future,
I committed a mistake I cannot have regrets for ;
Now I need the strength to stop dreaming.
