Cocktail

By Christy Chapman

A cocktail to warm the chill,
thoughts flow in & out;
random,scattered.
How did I love thee?
Like a funeral for the gone,
like water is to wet,
like my fingers round a gun-
you fed my monsters.
Asprin for the pain,
memories i hold,
nonsensical at best.
How did i screw it up?
Like an addict to his stash,
like a voyeur to the crowd,
like my head against the wall-
you wished apon my star.
A dozen purple moons,
this way maybe that;
south-south westerlies.
How did I play my hand?
Like the devil's pride & joy,
like three jokers in the deck,
like a sociopath on heat-
you played the wild card.
Another day unfolds,
three oranges & a pear;
situation normal-
How do you see me now?
Like the sinner to the saint,
like a virus in the system,
like your never do again-
you filed your exit plans.
