Torn Memories By Christy
First you said it was nothing,
a slight imposition,
an unplanned event
that evaporated your senses,
turned you inside out
leaving you timid & spent-
the circle you called it.
Then you sang it's everything:
like water is to wet,
an alcoholic to vodka-
the dog that has her day
basking in the sun
after finding hidden treasure-
you thought it was cool.
You finally declared it over,
void of all it's worth:
every word spoken,
a sympathetic undertone-
anguish taking over
& all my memories are torn
can't prove they were ever whole.
