At First Sight

I met you and I knew
It was all over for me.
Your life almost ended,
Mine yearning to begin again.
Through you bruises and scars
I became acquainted with a beautiful soul.
More beautiful than I've seen in times past.

You made that leap, yet you remained here.
And I was there to greet you for the first time.
By chance?
Can love be so cruel to have almost let you slip away?

What did you do inside of me?
Feels as though in your desperate need of encouragement,
You reached in and claimed my heart for your own.

Your eyes immediately captivated me,
Telling a story hidden away from the rest of the world.
Through them I saw a tale of mine own,
I thought was lost long ago.

I wonder what you're thinking,
I wonder when I'll see you again.
I wonder if I'll be able to mask these feelings
churning inside.
--In fear of treading on rocky ground.

An awakening in my soul you've sparked,
And you don't even know it yet.

**This I wrote the day the most beautiful woman jumped off a bridge and survived.**
