Solaced Glass House

By Kelly S. Ammon

A house made of stone could not withstand my hold,
A house made of glass would have been better suited.
Creating this world around us, just you and me, was too good to be true,
Just like living in a glass house would have been.

I knew it would end sooner than later.
I knew that true love was just imagination.
I couldn't accept that I had believed a lie for years,
And I didn't understand when you said that you didn't.

You left me cold, no explanation, no care.
My twisted heart, fell bleeding cold on your uncaring stone soul.
You live but in my heart, you lie in a grave,
Marked with your name and a memoir.

Deep in the solaced glass house I built, trying to be strong for you.
Deep, painfully etched into the heart of that crystalline shimmering.

Now, all glass shatters when I touch it.
Just like my glass house,
Shards of solid solace, now laying blanketed at my feet.

The solaced glass house is broken and now I feel the call of the Alecian Fields,
They will take me there...
Won't they?
