What You Didn't Do By Judith Christopher
My love, you show such deep regret
for all the things I did not get.
No trips to Rome, no travel to Greece.
Extravagant meals we did not eat.
But you, my dear, you nourished my soul,
and fed it plenty for years untold.
And remember the candle light dinner for two.
Oh, thank you for what you didn't do!
No fancy wedding to express our love
in front of friends or God above.
Many unions fall soon after the alter.
But you, sweet angel, have never faltered.
No riches have I from diamonds or money.
No house on the beach but, I don't care, Honey.
My treasure is your heart, so pure and true.
Oh, thank you for what you didn't do!
Now if I could choose a different way,
What would I do, what would I say?
Well I would choose the same, my friend,
and follow it to the bitter end.
The struggles, they brought us closer together
and proved to us that each storm could be weathered.
And you never left, never wanted to.
Oh, thank for what you didn't do!
