Lesbian Poetry

By Your Light

By Jan Thomas

I almost died once before.
I heard Death knocking on my door.
She smothered me in deep, dark shrouds.
Passing my eternal gown,
Unused, I tripped and hit the ground.

Perhaps an Angel watched me fall,
And sent you, Love, to make me turn.
Seduced by Life to fight and stay,
'Til Death promised, "Another day."

And now, my path, Ethereal,
Its ticket issued by your spark.
'Til comforting, the arms of Death,
Return to guide me through the dark.
