Aphrodite's Afterglow

By Jan Thomas

She feeds our souls with pure desire
And lights our bodies' burning fires
It's not you and me that are left in the ash
Her chemistry's bonding you see
Now there is "We."

We played Love's game without any cares
Seizing the moments, all we could share
It's not you and me that are left in the ash
Our baby is bonding you see
Now We are "Three."

Lies cast our fate away from Love's shore
Hopeless, her fires will burn evermore
It's not you and me that are left in the ash
Three hearts erupting memories
Branding them "Lost."

O Aphrodite, Send Cupid's bow
Seal all our sorrows where Love's embers glow
Its not you and me that are left in the ash...
