Losing You

By Judith Christopher

I wish that I could make you see
the magic deep inside of me.
The thing that keeps me loving you,
despite the torment, despite the blues.

There is one thing I must confess,
above confusion, above this mess.
Losing you is so hard to endure
when my love for you is so secure.

But I cannot seem to make you see
that I can't be perfect, just only me.
And every time I don't pass your test,
you ridicule in front of all the rest.

But for every time I've faltered or failed,
There's been a hundred times I've done things well.
And won your favor or held your heart
in the softest hands, like a work of art.

But still you don't believe in me
or in what our life could truly be.
You reject all except the very best.
But along with that comes all the rest.

When just one of us believes in love,
And sees this gift from God above.
Then hope is divided, so much is lost.
Is your hiding your heart worth all the cost?

For one can't love enough for two.
But if I could I'd love for you.
Because losing you has broken me
and brought me down upon my knees.

Now, even though your love is lost,
I'm still loving you with every thought.
And your kiss, now a distant memory...
Just because you never believed in me.
