Finding Absence By willemshakespeare
In deep silence I slept the sleep of a philosopher
Bent over a page
Though my eyes were closed they burned a light into the room
Like kerosene lamps and cast shadows of my dreams
The school of night of somnus was the podium
Where my thoughts began and ended
Venting my anger for becoming the faint star
No longer a center of any universe
Unworthy of the spiders web I discarded myself
Mended and whole now I am worlds of light
A galaxy weaved within the atoms of the fabric of being
In all of that I am if not only one thing that is good
I am again in love
Lying in her arms thigh pressed against thigh
Her bright molten gold hair entwined in mine
Delirious I am within her and as she is in me
Escaping her own bed until dawn when the sound of starlings hastens her departure
Unfortunate news is the coming of morning
To return to the ghost, a shriveled man beside her she calls husband
Where ashes spring from embers of a soul lost and forgotten
Together we may live but apart
Life remains but does life remain?
