The One That Never Fades

I saw her from across the room and couldn't stop my gaze.
A woman from a thousand dreams appeared to me this day.
Her voice so soft, so sweet and tender fell upon my ears.
Somehow I knew I needed her, how could I draw her near.

She met my eyes with a subtle smile to let me know she noticed.
And as the night drew to an end, I pulled her to me closest.
Warm lips of velvet smoothness touched my cheek in such a manor.
I felt my heart dance joyously with the speed of a horse's canter.

This wonderful woman stood by me for seven loving years.
But as time passed we grew apart and were left with only tears.
Though 12 long years have come and gone since we parted ways.
She'll always be that love of mine, the one that never fades!
