I never knew

I never knew that love was gentle
that flight wasn't just a fancy,
that the marking of each day
was not set by the tears cried that morning,
I never knew that love was kind,
that there is warmth in an embrace,
not a frigid reaction to an action,
or that the marking of night
was not set by the number of new bruises,
I never knew the power of a kiss,
the scent of an angel,
or that I could love someone so much,
I never knew alot,
but your love has taught me.
