Best Friends

You tried so hard to get me, though I told you no,
I told you I wanted to stay friends, my true feelings I never showed,
So we stayed friends for awhile, best-friends if I might say,
But then my feelings changed, it happened all one day,
I changed my mind, we fell in love, or so you made it seem,
I felt it all came to me, once upon a dream,
The next day I saw you, it was the expression on your face,
And then when you asked to talk to me, my heart began to race,
You told me that you loved her, and that love is real,
At that moment I never thought my heart would ever heal,
As I turned to walk away, my eyes filled with tears,
All the love that was in my heart was now filled with fears,
I could have had you, but I let you go, now you're gone for good,
I would tell you I love you, only if I could.
