Love poem for a love I'll never have

I know I mean nothing to you
It's what I've learned to live with
Still, I want to make you see
You mean the entire world to me.

You think that I'm a fool
To pursue a hopeless dream
Deep down, I know it too,
We were never meant to be

But at night, when you're alone
When the crowds all fade away
And you cry the hurt you hide,
So relentlessly by day

Think of me, as I lie awake

(almost every night, I do)

A prisoner to the heart that beats
Timelessly, for you.
