Keeping It Simple By Karen Godson
How tormenting
to bite my tongue;
smile a hollow smile,
and act as though we're best of friends,
yearning for her all the while.
I pine, I need,
I crave, I mourn,
yet am halfway consoled
by her graceful beauty,
that quiets my restless soul.
I'm damned to see
her halo and
her opalescent wings;
to hear angelic music
from her sweet voice as she sings.
I cannot touch
her heavenly body,
it is far too Divine.
Suffice it then
to be the only one
who knows she's mine.
