i should have...

i should have known,
i saw the passion die
i should have known,
i heard the lies
i should have known,
i felt the warmth grow cold
i should have known,
when the apologies got old
but somewhere between here and there,
ive learned knowledge means nothing
you can never be prepared,
you can't expect,
cry to little or too much
what you should have, could have, but didnt
dont mean nearly as much as what you did
so i opened my eyes,
saw reality for what it was
not what i wanted it to be,
i escaped the comfort,
travelled into the unknown...
and survived

i should have known....
and i did,

thats why im gone...
