Purpose

By Elana

I had no purpose
But to bury my sorrow,
To drown this pain
That burns in this hollow.

To walk alone
Seems to be my fate,
An unlucky draw
Never a straight.

And I see in you
A familiar place,
A similar sorrow
Etched upon your face.

So with heavy weight
Resting your shoulder,
A fire that burns deep
Tends to smolder.

Surrounded by friends
But never more alone,
Love's crashing hard
Turning heart into stone.

To be so young
Facing what destiny lays,
Finding your path And testing your fate.

So Iā?Tll give my strength
From lessons learned past,
Gather you in my arms
And hold you fast.

As I bare my soul
Before you I kneel,
Now it seems so small
This pain that I feel.

Now I found a reason
A purpose to be,
To give you comfort
And hold you close to me.
