How did I end up alone?
My love questioned and finally unknown.
The times I looked after you through the storms,
the shelter and encouragement soon forgotten.
How did I end up alone?
You cry abandonment yet all I did was work,
paying for the shelter you hate, the car you mock and the gifts you forget to wear.
I ride the bus so you can work, go to school and yes to play amongst your friends.
How did I end up alone?
Days of shopping, studying, bars with friends.
Yet I abandoned you?
Going to class, yet teachers call looking for you,
and I abandoned you?
I stopped showing affection, yet you stopped listening to my messages.
And I abandoned you?
How many times you could have been home, yet made plans to see others.
So tell me how I abandoned you when I am here alone
