YOU NEEDED ME

It was like thunder in my heart
when I saw your eyes filled with tears
I nearly fell when they start streaming
my mind went blank and I held my breath

How could I think clear
when you cried so bitterly?
How could I help you
when you never cried before?
How could I know it
when you always seemed so strong?

It was like rain upon my soul
you fell apart in front of me
I almost cried myself, watching you
my heart felt heavy, I tried to help

How could I see this
when your pain came to life now?
How could I feel it
when you pretend to be fine?
How could I save you
from your nightmare and your grief?

It was like feeling what you felt
I held your hand, sitting nearby
I heard your cries and wanted to leave
but I couldn't, seeing you suffer

How could I be strong
when I didn't know what to do?
How could I hold you
when my body seemed so weak?
How could I let you
Fall to pieces, tormented?

It was like a fire in my heart
when I touched your cold skin, your pain
Lean on me, rely on me, I'm here
and I tried to fight your grief away

How could I know that
you really seemed to need me?
How could I see why
you just want me by your side?
How could I pretend
not wanting to help you now?

It was like feeling just too fine
When I offered you my shoulder
I felt your cold, your soul strengthening
But I wonder if you'd pay it back

How could I think this
pitying myself, my pain?
How could I do so
when you are still suffering?
How could I play like
I'm troubled when you're crying?

It was like wanting the same thing
would you help me when I am down?
I wonder if you could do the same
as me, I tried it all to help you!

Remember - I'm always here
Think about my sacrifice
Remember - I'm there for you
Think about my offering
Remember what I have done
Think about it the next time
